Here are some of the best perfume releases of the year that have left a lasting impression and earned a special place in my heart.

Atelier Materi Cèdre Figalia

An ode to the fig tree, this fragrance captures the green leaves and ripe figs glistening in the sun. Vibrant and verdant, Cèdre Figalia beautifully conveys all the green facets of nature, supported by vegetal, woody, and herbal undertones.

Jacques Fath Encens Copal

Inspired by a visit to Mexico, Rania Naim, creative director of Jacques Fath Parfums, discovered Copal Blanc, a sacred Mayan and Aztec incense. To add a festive touch, was included Mastic, evoking lively Greek parties by the Mediterranean, where mastika liqueur is savored. This unique blend became the foundation of Encens Copal, reflecting its rich origins and inspirations.

Encens Copal is a composition centered on caramelized resins, with bold, metallic incense and gourmand hints of hazelnut, balanced by the freshness of zesty citrus at its opening.

Chanel Comète

New releases from Chanel are rare, which makes each one highly anticipated. This year, Chanel delighted us with Comète, a fragrance inspired by their celestial high-jewelry collection.

The scent opens with a burst of cherry, enveloped in Chanel signature aldehydic floral powder. The cherry note has an almond-like richness, gradually giving way to sweet ground almonds and lipsticky violets. As the fragrance settles into its drydown, a delicate powdery floral veil lingers, evoking a sense of timeless elegance synonymous with Chanel fragrances.

Tom Ford Black Lacquer

After Tom Ford’s departure from his brand, admirers of the brand didn’t expect a new release that could rival the classics. However, Black Lacquer proved to be a pleasant surprise, exuding the rich, complex DNA of the brand’s earlier creations.

It’s a deep, complex fragrance that smells of patent leather, boozy resins, built around a woody base. Dark and enigmatic, yet irresistibly alluring.

Fragrance du Bois Sirène

The cherry note trend has flooded the market, making it pretty hard for any one fragrance to stand out. Yet, Sirene has done just that.

It’s multifaceted and beautifully balanced. The scent starts with a creamy, sweet cherry, evolving into darker tones of resins, oud, and earthy moss.

Maison Francis Kurkdjian A Part of Me (APOM)

A modern unisex revival of the beloved and discontinued 2009 classics, APOM pour Homme and APOM pour Femme.

Radiant, powdery yellow florals, citrusy orange blossom, and warm amber illuminate the composition with light and warmth, all while embodying chic in the French way.

Marc-Antoine Barrois Tilia

Everything this house releases garners high praise, and Tilia, created by Quentin Bisch, is no exception.

This warm, uplifting fragrance centers on the delicate note of linden blossom pollen, evoking the sunny, carefree days of mid-July. It’s a feel-good scent that brings a smile.

The extrait trend has grown quickly, offering amplified versions of beloved fragrances. Following this trend, I want to highlight my favorite extraits of 2024.

Amouage Guidance 46

The extrait version of Guidance retains the original’s DNA while enhancing its richness. The fruity, gourmand, spicy, creamy, and hazelnut layers of the EDP version are seamlessly blended into a single, harmonious composition, with bolder accents on specific notes. Guidance 46 is smoother and more rounded, featuring less saffron and a nuttier, creamier profile. It radiates a fresh green woodiness, intertwined with fruity notes and tender rose.

Matiere Premiere Crystal Saffron Extrait

A refined version of the original Crystal Saffron, this extrait smooths the sharp metallic saffron with balsamic myrrh, adding sweetness, warmth, and depth. It’s a polished, more harmonious take on the bold original.
