Tales of Amber by Goldfield & Banks: A New Story for Fall and Winter
Written by Ally Santos
If you know me, you know I’ve always loved how Goldfield & Banks captures the raw beauty of Australia. Founded by Dimitri Weber, the brand has this way of taking the country’s wild landscapes - its coasts, forests, and deserts - and translating them into fragrances that feel elegant but still grounded. Their newest release, Tales of Amber, feels different though. This one is about mood, warmth, and is the kind of story you want to live in all season long.

Okay, let me just say: the opening is gorgeous. You get this bright orange blossom that sparkles, paired with an earthy moss that keeps it from being too sweet. It feels fresh and uplifting, almost like that crisp air you breathe in on a chilly fall morning. It’s the perfect “hello” before things get cozy.
Then the story deepens. Orris comes in with this soft, powdery elegance; cinnamon brings a flicker of spice, and labdanum adds warmth and resin. This is where it starts to feel like Fall in a bottle: the leaves turning, the air cooling, everything slowing down just a little. It has this glow, like being near a fireplace but not too close.
Now, the base is where the magic happens. Two different ambers weave together: salty, slightly animalic ambergris and a golden, vanillic Amber 83 accord. Add a little Australian agarwood and smoky woods, and you’ve got this deep, rich, sensual finish that lasts for hours. It’s warm but not heavy, sophisticated but still comforting. Honestly, it’s addictive; I keep smelling my wrist whenever I wear it.
This is 100% a Fall and Winter fragrance. Think cozy sweaters, nights out in dimly lit restaurants, or even a quiet evening at home when you want to feel a little more put together. It’s perfection.
Every time I wear Tales of Amber, I feel grounded and a little more confident, like I’m carrying my own pocket of warmth with me. It’s not a loud fragrance that shouts across the room, but it has presence; it’s intimate, elegant, and honestly makes me feel like I’m part of a really good story.
Goldfield & Banks has always bottled landscapes, but Tales of Amber feels like they bottled a whole season. It’s cozy, mysterious, and so wearable for Fall and Winter. If you’re looking for a fragrance that feels like wrapping yourself in your favorite blanket but with a touch of luxury, this is the one.
