Moroccan Medjool by Electimuss: The Sweetness in the Heat
Written by Kristina Kybartaite-Damule
British luxury perfume house Electimuss has recently added a new fragrance to its Explorer Collection - Moroccan Medjool. This scent transports you straight into the golden desert heat and is a true ode to delicious dates.

Electimuss is an independent brand inspired by Ancient Rome and the Roman obsession with perfume. This influence is evident not only in the opulent, high-quality fragrances but also in the packaging: the glass bottles, with their intricately carved metal caps and collars, echo Roman architecture and symbolism. And these bottles are heavy - perhaps the heaviest in my collection - making it clear that no compromises were made in production.
“Electimuss” means "to choose the best" in Latin, and the brand certainly lives up to its name - both in terms of ingredients and perfumers, including talents such as Julien Rasquinet, Christian Provenzano, Sofia Bardelli, and others.
I discovered Electimuss a few years ago during the first ScentXplore event, which I attended virtually. I remember being so fascinated by the brand’s story, concept, and the passionate people behind it that I ended up blind-buying (a habit I’d nearly managed to quit) a bottle of Imperium and a discovery set. The scents seemed to me as well-crafted and highly appealing - I genuinely enjoyed most of the collection. Since then, I’ve followed Electimuss closely and was excited to get my nose on their latest creation by Marco Genovese.
Moroccan Medjool, the third addition to the Explorer Collection, is a tribute to the sumptuous dates the Romans encountered in Mauretania.

“Dates were among Morocco’s most treasured exports to the Romans and played an important role in establishing long-lasting connections between Morocco and the broader Mediterranean world. With Moroccan Medjool, we pay homage to dates and the oasis habitat where they grow in abundance,” the brand notes.
And hence the name - Medjool refers to a variety of date originating in Morocco’s Tafilalt region.

And so, after the initial spray of this perfume, all you can think of are dates - fruity, rich, and sweet. In fact, the opening is very sweet. It reminds me of an exotic dessert infused with caramel, cardamom, and ripe fruits. I imagine this is exactly the kind of scent you’d experience during a traditional Moroccan feast. It’s mouthwatering - almost as if I can taste the sugary, juicy dates.
I picture the oasis where Medjool dates grow, the vast Sahara desert, and the scent of sun-warmed skin. The inner explorer in me awakens, tempted to abandon everything and book the next flight to Morocco. A fun coincidence: when the perfume arrived, Sicily, where I now live, had just been dusted with sand carried from the Sahara by wind. The next day, I found tiny golden piles of sand on my terrace, and the sun was blazing. In that atmosphere, wearing Moroccan Medjool felt just right.

But let’s return to the scent itself. The caramelized dates don’t fade after the opening — they linger throughout the entire journey. So, you must truly enjoy this note to appreciate the perfume. Over time, the sweetness softens, and elegant floral accords emerge. I can smell a full-bloom rose and a slightly carnal jasmine, evoking the golden haze of a summer evening, when light melts slowly into shadow.
The base is warm and ambery, with a touch of vanilla and earthy oakmoss grounding the composition — a perfect final accord in this symphony of dates.
If you enjoy sweet fragrances and are looking for something that remains wearable in the heat of summer without becoming sticky or overpowering, Moroccan Medjool is worth exploring. I find myself liking it more with each wear.
