Meant To Be Seen by Nishane: A Daydream in Powder and Light

Nishane’s latest creation, Meant To Be Seen, feels like a love letter to self-acceptance and quiet radiance. It’s a fragrance that speaks softly, yet leaves an unforgettable trace.

On September 29th in Cannes, during TFWA week, at an exclusive Nishane’s event on the beach, guests were invited to enjoy the glitter, signature drinks, and a live music show – all in celebration of the launch of the new perfume, Meant To Be Seen. Yet, as lovely as the evening was, it has nothing to do with the way I perceive this fragrance – I simply connected with it from the very first time I smelled it.
It felt instantly familiar, as if Nishane’s early DNA had been quietly revived. I experienced the same emotion I had when I first tried Hundred Silent Ways many, many years ago. Not because the two scents are similar, but because they evoke the same comforting warmth — the kind that makes you smile and never want to let go.
And I didn’t. For days, I kept reaching for this bright, powdery dream. It opens with sparkling bergamot and tender violet — perhaps the source of my nostalgia — before softly unfolding into the heart of powdery iris, the true star of this show. It’s a modern iris, elegant yet approachable, refined but not old-fashioned. Rather modern, I would say.
That innocent floral sweetness is balanced by something deeper: a whisper of civet. Usually, this note totally overwhelms me, but here it’s different — soft, sensual, almost hidden. It adds depth and character, the kind of secret facet we all carry within ourselves. Just as our quiet mysteries make us compelling, this animalic undertone gives Meant To Be Seen its irresistible allure.
As the scent settles, the powdery softness lingers, wrapped in creamy sandalwood and radiant akigalawood, leaving a glow that feels so luminous.
“Meant to Be Seen is not just a perfume – it is a declaration. For the quiet ones. For the daydreamers. For those whose glow has been dimmed but never lost. This is the scent that finds you in your stillness and reminds you: You were never meant to hide. You were always meant to be seen,” the brand states, paying homage to the timeless spirit of Marilyn Monroe. Perfumer Jordi Fernández brings this vision to life flawlessly.
I consider myself a daydreamer and rather quiet at times – perhaps this is why I instantly felt that this perfume suited me.
Dreamy and full of light, Meant To Be Seen feels like a gentle reminder that visibility can be graceful — and that sometimes, the most powerful glow is the quiet one.
