Astrum Nova by Electimuss: A Refined New Star in the Perfume Galaxy

Written by Ally Santos

Astrum Nova is a tropical star born in blue glass, carrying the warmth of sunlit fruit and the elegance of a starlit evening.

When Electimuss releases a new fragrance, the expectation is never for subtle ripples; it’s for a celestial impact. With Astrum Nova, the second launch of 2025 and the latest addition to the brand’s Lustrous Collection of striking blue bottles, the house delivers exactly that: a scent as luminous as its name suggests.

The name itself is steeped in meaning. “It’s Latin for new star,” explains Jo Watt, Marketing Director at Electimuss. “There’s a celestial link, but also an agricultural and Roman cultural influence. The inspiration came from the abundance and accessibility of incredible ingredients, and the joy of finding something truly unique among them.”

Created by perfumer David Chieze, Astrum Nova opens with a burst of vibrant life: mango, bergamot, lemon, and mandarin; citrus fruits shimmering like sunlight on water. But it’s the mango that steals the scene. “It’s very fresh, juicy, and has the sweetness of ripe mango,” says Watt. “It’s incredibly realistic, paired with blackcurrant for contrast.”

Astrum Nova’s structure is deliberate and harmonious. The opening’s tropical brightness eases into a heart of osmanthus, its peachy-jam richness wrapped in soft fruitiness and a touch of seed-like muskiness. As the hours pass, subtle woods anchor the composition, keeping it elegant rather than syrupy. “It’s tropical but not overpowering,” Watt notes. “Each part compliments the next, it’s a beautiful fragrance that feels both grounded and sophisticated.”

For Watt, who joined Electimuss in December 2024, Astrum Nova represents the dual heartbeat of the brand: narrative depth and olfactory artistry. “Both the story and the scent were integral from the beginning,” she explains. “Fragrance is such an emotive wear, it’s about how it makes you feel in the moment.” While the perfume was developed before her tenure, she praises Chieze’s craft, particularly in his development of the mango accord. “He’s incredibly talented, well-known in certain circles, and what he’s done with mango here is extraordinary.”

Astrum Nova debuted in London on July 1st, followed by an online release just days later, reaching fragrance lovers worldwide by the end of the month. For aficionados, the complexity of the mango accord and the evolving dry down are irresistible. For those new to Electimuss, the sculptural bottle is an immediate statement; a piece of art radiating luxury.

When asked for one word to sum up Astrum Nova, Watt doesn’t hesitate: Refined. If it could speak for itself, perhaps it would say: I am light caught in fruit’s flesh, elegant in my tropical skin.

As I lift the bottle, and it glints; blue glass like a fragment of the night sky, stolen and shaped for my palm. The first spray is a sunburst, a mango split open under a hot sky, juice pooling at my fingertips. Bergamot skips in like laughter; lemon and mandarin flicker like firelight.

The heart is softer, like silk draped over warm skin, osmanthus with its quiet peach jam hum, a richness that leans in without crowding. The air feels fuller now, the way a day deepens before the stars come out.

By the dry down, the fruit has melted into shadow; wood and musk, still glowing faintly, like embers long after the fire. Astrum Nova doesn’t vanish; it lingers in memory, a star you keep glancing back at just to be sure it’s still there.
