We’ve already shared Angel’s picks, and now it’s time for Eveline’s and Kristina’s recommendations.
Eveline’s Picks
Une Nuit Nomade Jardins de Misfah
Jardins de Misfah aligns perfectly with the golden autumn aesthetic, mirroring theseason’s rich color palette. Inspired by the ancient village of Misfat Al Abriyeen in Oman, it transports you to terraced groves filled with fruit trees and date palms. Here, honeyed roses melt into the caramel sweetness of royal Medjool dates, a nutty hint of raw almonds, and warm spices. A cool thread of saffron cuts throughthe richness, making this lush, full-bodied fragrance surprisingly easy to wear.
Atelier des Ors Lune Feline
In the season of golden light and cool evenings, nothing feels more comforting than vanilla and resins. Lune Feline captures this perfectly with a vanilla that smolders beneath layers of spice, balsams, and woods. The vanilla here is not sugared or gourmand, but something darker – smoky, balsamic, almost animalic. A scent that wraps around you, as cozy and soothing as the embrace of a graceful, purring cat.
Dries Van Noten Camomille Satin
Camomille Satin is built on contrasts — herbal dryness entwined with honeyed sweetness, much like Dries Van Noten’s signature way of pairing unexpected fabric textures. Bitter green petitgrain lifts the chamomile and lavender, evoking wild herbs dried under the sun. Then comes syrupy vanilla entwined with orange blossom, together creating the impression of golden floral honey trickling through the composition.
Naomi Goodsir Or du Serail
If autumn were painted in scent, Or du Serail would be its opulent still life. Created by Bertrand Duchaufour, the idea was to capture the golden warmth of oriental tobacco, inspired by Delacroix’s 1834 painting Algerian Women in Their Chambers. This is a rich, boozy tobacco fragrance with honey, fruits, coconut, and woods. Multifaceted and ever-changing, one day it opens with prunes and black tea dipped in honeyed leather, another, it reveals coconut, mango, and smoky tobacco wrapped in buckwheat honey. Complex, sweet, warm, and utterly addictive.
Astier de Villatte Les Nuits
Chypres are made for autumn, with their mossy depth and the feeling of damp leaves beneath your feet. One of the most beautiful to try is Les Nuits. Based on a 19th century travel vial once owned by writer George Sand, the fragrance was reconstructed by Dominique Ropion after its discovery by perfume historian Annick Le Guérer. An atmospheric revival of the scent that once surrounded Sand. Syrupy rose, dusty iris, resins, and the depth of patchouli. A soft suede-like leather and a veil of vintage powder give it the aura of bohemian soirées. A chypre with a soul steeped in history.
Kristina’s Picks
Bon Parfumeur 403 Myrrh Shadow
Earlier this year, Bon Parfumeur released this scent, and while it’s versatile enough to work beautifully in summer, I think fall is when it truly shows its best colors. As the evenings get darker, myrrh is the note I love to smell in perfumes – smoky, resinous, mysterious, yet elegant. In Myrrh Shadow, it’s not as heavy as I’m used to; instead, it’s softened and enriched with vanilla, cinnamon, and benzoin. This sweet touch makes the fragrance even more comforting, perfect for keeping warm when the weather turns chilly.
Initio Narcotic Delight
If you’re looking for something boozy and sweet, I can’t recommend this one enough. Cognac meets a delicate cherry note, sweet tobacco, and vanilla. There’s also a noticeable dose of Hedione, which, I suspect, is what keeps the fragrance tied to Initio’s unmistakable DNA – in the best way possible. As it develops on skin, it becomes sweeter, warmer, and bolder. Irresistible and seductive, this is the one I’d choose for a date night out.
Xerjoff Black Moonlight
One of the newest releases from Xerjoff, created in collaboration with the legendary band Duran Duran, came out earlier this year. When it reached me here in Sicily, the heat was already overwhelming, and this is not a perfume for the faint-hearted. I fell in love with its dark, resinous, smoky character immediately, but I knew – it would have to wait until fall. Saffron paired with cardamom, a touch of lavender, myrrh, tolu balsam, labdanum, and patchouli… it’s heavy, but beautifully blended. The note list alone doesn’t do it justice; the composition is complex and multilayered. The base is ambery and warm, with a sweet hint of benzoin – perfect for long autumn evenings.
Mizensir Perfect Oud
No fall perfume list would be complete without a good rose-oud fragrance. This creation from Mizensir fits in gloriously. It’s far from a typical rose-oud: as it develops on the skin, you’ll find coriander, leathery iris, and a woody accord woven through it. The oud is dark, yet modern – neither overly animalic nor too heavy. The whole composition carries Mizensir’s signature light, airy touch, which makes it elegant and very wearable. This perfume is a perfect example of what oud can be, and it’s worth trying even if you usually shy away from this note.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
An old classic I couldn’t leave out. This sweet tobacco and vanilla composition is the definition of cozy. There’s cocoa and tonka bean in the mix too – the latter enjoying a wave of popularity recently. But this isn’t just a straight-up gourmand: resinous touches give the fragrance depth and richness. It’s spicy, sexy, and very potent. True, it’s nothing new – most people have smelled it by now – but it’s a classic for a reason. And fall is the perfect season to bring it back.
