Dominique Ropion

Dominique Ropion is a renowned French master perfumer, born in Paris in 1955. Trained at the Roure Bertrand Dupont perfumery school in Grasse, he began his career at the Roure laboratories, where he met longtime collaborator Frédéric Malle. Since joining International Flavors & Fragrances Inc. in 2000, Ropion has become known for his innovative and meticulously crafted fragrances.

Ropion’s creations are celebrated for their precision, daring compositions, and architectural balance of bold and subtle notes. He has worked with prestigious brands such as Dior, Givenchy, Mugler, Lancôme, and Yves Saint Laurent. Among his most acclaimed works are Givenchy Ysatis and Amarige, Calvin Klein Euphoria, Thierry Mugler Alien, and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle. His most iconic creation is Portrait of a Lady for Frédéric Malle, widely considered a modern classic.

Recognized as one of the most influential perfumers of his time, Ropion has received numerous accolades, including the Prix François Coty, Cosmetique Magazine Oscar, and the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
