Rose Magnitude by Goldfield & Banks: A Fragrance That Adapts

Written by Ally Santos

I first came across Rose Magnitude by Goldfield & Banks in Shanghai, China, for Notes Shanghai; one of the biggest and most prestigious events in perfumery, right in the middle of that electric, fast-moving energy that only that city can give. It felt fitting.

There was something about discovering a rose there; of all places, that immediately made me pay attention. Not quiet, not overly romantic. Just confident, modern, and very present. This fragrance doesn’t lean into the usual softness people expect from rose. Instead, it feels structured, almost architectural, with a clarity that cuts through everything around it.

I started wearing it right away. First in Shanghai, then I packed it with me to Dubai, and now it’s been part of my days in London. Three completely different environments, and somehow it held its own in all of them.

In Dubai, the warmth pulled something deeper out of it. The rose felt fuller, slightly more textured, with a quiet richness that sat close to the skin but still carried. It didn’t feel heavy, just more grounded. There’s a balance to it that works in heat without overwhelming, which isn’t easy for a rose.

London was different. Cooler air and suddenly the fragrance felt more refined, almost sharper in its edges. The freshness came forward more, giving the rose a cleaner, more effortless feel. It wore closer, more intimate, but still with that same quiet confidence.

Rose Magnitude

That’s probably what stood out to me the most. It adapts. Not in a way where it loses itself, but in a way that feels intentional. Like it understands its surroundings.

There’s also something about the way Goldfield & Banks approach their compositions that always feels considered. Even when they explore something familiar, like a rose, they don’t rely on what’s expected. There’s always a shift in perspective, something that makes you pause for a second and reconsider what you’re smelling.

Rose Magnitude feels like that kind of fragrance. It doesn’t try to be romantic in the traditional sense. It feels more self-assured than that. Clean, grounded, composed, and quietly expressive without needing to say too much.

And now, after Shanghai, Dubai, and London, one thing is clear; it will shine so well in New York; I already know I’m bringing it back with me. New York feels like the right next chapter; faster, louder, a little more unpredictable.
