Pacific Rock Flower from Goldfield & Banks: a New Staple for Summer

Written by Kristina Kybartaite-Damule

Just before the summer season begins, Goldfield & Banks introduces a new perfume inspired by Australia’s coasts – Pacific Rock Flower. After testing it repeatedly over the past couple of months, I have a strong feeling this will become a staple in the vacation-season perfume wardrobe.

Crafted by perfumer Emilie Bouge from Robertet, this new fragrance joins the brand’s Native Collection. It’s the second scent in the line inspired by the Pacific coasts, following Pacific Rock Moss. This time, the spotlight is on wild blossoms that spread their scents through salty ocean air.

That’s exactly how this fragrance opens – the salty notes paint a vivid image of the shore. Sunlit waves crash, creating white foam, and a breeze (maybe a bit too strong) messes up your hair. The sun is hot, and you can feel its kisses on your skin – and on your lips, salted by the air.

Personally, I’m usually cautious with aquatic perfumes, as they turn unpleasant on my skin more often than I’d like to admit. Fortunately, Pacific Rock Flower doesn’t follow that path. When I first tried it in Milan during Esxence, I immediately sensed something addictive breaking through the initial saltiness.

That impression held true once I started wearing it properly at home. As the scent develops on the skin, the salty notes are softened by fresh floral accords – a soft and innocent tuberose, a hint of something sunny (perhaps mimosa), and exotic blooms. These flowers have a tea-like quality: fresh, reviving, and not too sweet. I like to think of them as blossoms we’ve never smelled here in Europe – my mind travels straight to the Pacific coast.

These magical blossoms stay on my skin throughout the entire life of the fragrance, eventually joined by a gentle touch of patchouli and dreamy sandalwood in the base. This woodiness grounds the airy floral heart and wraps the composition beautifully.

On the skin, this perfume smells clean and fresh, and I can confidently say it reveals its best side in the heat. As the days get warmer and the sun becomes more generous, I find myself reaching for it more often – and the hotter it gets, the more addictive Pacific Rock Flower becomes. Like a true summer dream.

I’m already planning my summer getaway, and there’s no doubt this fragrance will be in rotation when I’m sipping Piña Coladas on a sandy beach in a white linen dress. I think this release is spot-on and has great potential to become very popular. Let’s see if I’m right – but until then, I highly recommend giving it a try. On skin, preferably, because this is one of those perfumes that paper simply doesn’t do justice to.
