Initio Narcotic Delight: An Intoxicating Sensation
Written by Kristina Kybartaite-Damule
The newest fragrance from Initio, Narcotic Delight, was highly anticipated by fans of the house. Its provocative, sensual style is a common denominator for its perfumes, and the new release is no exception.
From the very first spray, it immerses in an intoxicating sensation. The sweet, fruity, boozy scent hits the exact spot in the brain to elicit pleasure, just as described when discussing jasminic, radiant hedione. In this fragrance, the overdose of this material is simply irresistible.
In fact, most of Initio’s perfumes contain hedione, and perhaps this is precisely what reveals the brand’s DNA. You can easily recognize when you’re experiencing Initio.
Now, what about the cherry note? To me, it was the most intriguing part. Cherry fragrances can easily become mundane, reminiscent of something you've already smelled before. Well, that’s not the case here. Cherry is certainly present and creates a delicious fruity vibe; however, it’s not overpowering and is less natural than I thought. It reminds me more of the candied cherries used in cocktails.
As the fragrance develops, it transforms into a beautiful tobacco scent, combined with cozy vanilla. In a way, it begins to resemble Side Effect, and some would say it's its younger sister. They’re not identical, but the similarities are easily noticeable, especially in the base, most likely due to the strongly expressed tobacco. Some people criticize this new release because of the similarity, but to my mind, they are different enough not to be redundant having both.
Personally, I like it very much. Not only is the scent beautiful, but it also lasts 8–12 hours and projects nicely. But well, this is normal for Initio perfumes, so talking about performance is saying nothing.
