Eshal from Neela Vermeire Creations: A Joyous Tuberose

After much anticipation, Neela Vermeire Creations has introduced a new perfume to their collection—Eshal. This fragrance is a true ode to one of the most sensual white flowers: tuberose.

The last time we heard from Neela Vermeire Creations was almost three years ago when the Fragments by NVC line was introduced. Meanwhile, the regular line had seen no new additions for seven years, proving that good things are meant to be awaited.

Eshal carries the brand’s signature elegance, artisanship, and spirituality. Like all previous fragrances in the collection, it was created by Bertrand Duchaufour. Knowing that some good things remain unchanged over the years gives me a sense of serenity—especially as a longtime admirer of both the brand’s fragrances and the personality of its founder, Neela Vermeire herself. Meeting her always sparks joy.

And that is exactly what Eshal is meant to do—awaken happiness and the joy of the moment. Perhaps that’s why Neela chose to build this perfume around the luminous, radiant scent of tuberose, a flower that has been a constant in her life.

“From childhood to each return to India, the vibrant flower markets have deepened my connection to this queen of flowers, etching its lush, opulent scent into my soul,” she notes.

In Eshal, the tuberose is pure and soft, almost silky. It doesn’t veer into the wild, indolic territory as it sometimes does in other perfumes. Instead, it is balanced with bright citruses, exotic spices, and a touch of slightly bitter, earthy patchouli.

The resinous warmth of labdanum and Peru balsam is also prominent, and I believe this is what lends the scent its sense of spirituality and tranquility. It helps me appreciate the beauty of the moment—not yesterday’s, not tomorrow’s, but the here and now. And in times of uncertainty, that is exactly what we all need.

For hours, Eshal dances beautifully on my skin, revealing different facets each time I catch its scent. The green smoothness of petitgrain and the occasional embrace of enveloping vanilla appear and weave seamlessly into this nuanced composition.

This is a precious new addition to the brand’s collection. Neela Vermeire Creations has once again delivered a fragrance that feels both personal and universal—a scent that lingers not just on the skin, but in the heart.
