Antoine Lie
Antoine Lie is a French perfumer known for his bold, unconventional creations and significant impact on both mainstream and niche perfumery. Trained in chemistry and fragrance under Jean Carles and Jean Guichard, he began his career crafting hits like Armani Code and Versace Crystal Noir before shifting to niche perfumery to pursue greater creative freedom.
He has worked with avant-garde brands such as Etat Libre d’Orange, oneofthose, and Nu Be, often blending unexpected materials like vinyl, metal, and ether. Formerly a senior perfumer at Givaudan and VP at Takasago, he now runs his own studio, ALOE – Antoine Lie Olfactive Experience, in Paris, where he develops bespoke fragrances and advises on olfactory branding.
Puredistance is a perfume house that always takes its time. Every launch feels thoughtful and intentional, and Ysayo, the newest perfume in the Magnificent XII collection, continues that tradition. This time, the brand steps into a darker, greener world – one that feels deep, earthy, and full of quiet power.
Perris Monte Carlo's new perfume Balsamir is an immersive experience of mysticism and luxury. It elevates resins in the fragrance to the next level.
Antoine Lie doesn’t just craft perfumes – he challenges conventions, builds formulas around unexpected contrasts, and insists on the recognition of perfumery as a true art form. In an interview for PlezuroMag, he reflects on his creative freedom, artistic vision behind iconic perfumes, and the bold choices that have defined his career.
