Atelier des Ors has launched two new perfumes as part of their Memory Lane collection, paying tribute to the brand's relocation to Grasse at Villa Primrose, a historic residence dating back to 1886.

“These fragrances delve into my personal memories and the collective history of Grasse perfumery, a poignant endeavor,” initiated by owner Jeanne Philippe Clement to honor the evocative power of scent in eliciting both nostalgic reminiscences and future aspirations.

Among these creations, Blue Madeleine drew my attention. I found myself enchanted by the exquisite blue gradient glass bottle adorned with glistening gold flecks, encapsulating the essence of a grand villa nestled amidst serene natural surroundings, evoking the joyous spark triggered by a familiar fragrance that transports one on a joyful journey down memory lane.

Blue Madeleine is primarily a homage to a gourmand madeleine, enhanced with smoky tea accords and a hint of spices. The fragrance unfolds with a citric burst of bergamot, subtly tempered by a warming touch of cinnamon. A creamy spiciness harmonizes with pink pepper, creating a delectable aromatic blend.

Transitioning to the heart notes of warmth and affection, the tea essence unfurls, accompanied by a tantalizing milky aroma that strikes a delicate balance between creaminess and sweetness. The smoky facet attributed to the black tea note harmoniously blends with a touch of brown sugar and a hint of fluffy madeleine, creating a comforting and inviting olfactory experience that lingers before gently settling into a subtle creamy base.

The base is quite mild yet undeniably sophisticated on the bed of creamy sandalwood. Balsams appear to give an edge but never push the boundary of resinous territory.

While Blue Madeleine may not revolutionize the realm of summer gourmands or fresh tea fragrances, Atelier des Ors has artfully captured a suave freshness and edible allure characteristic of a milk tea fragrance. By selecting materials and ingredients that complement the essence of the fragrance, they have crafted a scent that emanates a subtle spicy freshness ideal for warmer climates.

With respectable longevity and modest projection, Blue Madeleine creates a charming scent aura for the initial few hours. While it may not be the most long-lasting on my skin, my experience with tea-based perfumes suggests that this genre flourishes in warmer weather, especially when infused with a subtle spicy freshness. I anticipate the pink pepper and will unveil their full radiance in the warmer months, transforming Blue Madeleine into a scintillating rose-infused tea fragrance accompanied by the comforting aroma of warm, fresh, fluffy madeleines.
