Buyer’s Guide: Jovoy

Jovoy tells the captivating tale of a Parisian perfume house established in 1923, which was lost to time for more than 80 years. In 2006, Henin Francois, a world traveler drawn to exquisite raw materials, sought to revive it with the collection of Les 7 Parfums Capitaux.

After years of adventurous scent-hunting in the depths of Vietnamese forests, followed by a journey through Grasse, he gained exceptional expertise. Now working as the house's creator and Artistic Director, he is transforming JOVOY Parfumeur Parisien into a distinguished symbol of niche contemporary perfumery.

Over the years, I've gathered a wonderful collection from the brand, carefully curated and deeply cherished. Let’s take a closer look at my favorite pieces!

Musc Pallas

An undeniably radiant bouquet featuring soft peach notes, anchored by a base of tonka and musk. This contemporary, heady, powdery fragrance radiates a unique aura, making it your signature scent.

I describe it as "an extension of my persona, something that makes everything feel effortless."

François Hénin and perfumer Vanina aimed to create a presence that envelops the wearer, leaving a distinctive trail and leading to an experience that is truly divine. Musc Pallas, with its cool oceanic breeze, silky iris, and soothing ambrette, envelops this enchanting musk, offering a captivating iridescent quality along with a deeply calming and therapeutic effect.

Remember me

Combining edible notes like milk, vanilla, and chai with less edible elements such as leather and wood, Remember Me is a modern, sophisticated gourmand that doesn’t evoke food directly. Everything is beautifully balanced. The chai brings a peppery warmth with ginger, tempered by a generous splash of creamy milk and vanilla. This creaminess is kept vibrant by a blend of bergamot and cardamom, woven through the scent like a tangy green ribbon.

Fire at will

This is purely for the vanilla lovers and a great layering perfume with spicy florals. Vanilla and Mimosa - this duo is crafted by independent perfumer Vanina Murraciole, who promises enticing encounters and a return to a lighter spirit. It begins with vanilla, but it's an unexpected kind—subtle and ethereal, almost suspended, with a unique note of honeyed, powdery mimosa. Next, the vanilla emerges as gourmand but not overpowering, fruity yet not baked, striking a balance between "real" vanilla ice cream and sweet promises that linger like languorous kisses. This is a perfect lazy Sunday afternoon fragrance to just cozy up on your couch and a great staple for spicy fragrances to spruce things up for the upcoming holiday season.

Gozo

Jeroboam departs from tradition, replacing its black and gold design with a vibrant orange presentation that evokes joyful memories of the warm ocher tones of natural stone buildings at sunset. The fragrance itself is a bold woody and spicy floral blend, radiating sensual floral nuances interwoven with subtle spice hints atop a base of musk, precious woods, and contemporary ambroxan notes. Sweet and irresistibly spicy, Gozo embodies the contemporary sensuality that Jeroboam is renowned for.

Insulo

Insulo begins with a sweet, crème brûlée-inspired vanilla. Rich, syrupy, and drizzled with caramel, Insulo represents the height of sugary sweetness and vanillic indulgence. It serves as an excellent layering vanilla to complement sweeter gourmands while balancing their sweetness.
