Mes Bisous: Where Fragrance Meets Fantasy

Written by Kristina Kybartaite-Damule

Mes Bisous is a young Turkish brand that knows how to capture attention. From its colorful and unique packaging to its seductive, storytelling scents—it makes you pause, curious to explore what lies behind it. Buse Köseoğlu, the founder of Mes Bisous, pulls back the curtain.

Until Esxence last February, I have to admit that I knew nothing about Mes Bisous. While navigating through the hundreds of brands presenting this year, something different caught my eye at one of the booths. Large ‘books’ on display made me stop for a moment. And I’m so glad I did! The scents of Mes Bisous were exactly what I wanted to smell—creative, intriguing, and not just another copy of a copy of a copy (let’s be honest, this feeling has become all too familiar lately).

The whole experience discovering the brand was satisfying. Not only did I enjoy smelling the scents themselves, but the presentation also left a lasting impression—it’s definitely not something you see every day. Instead of the now-popular minimalistic, clear bottles, Mes Bisous embraces bright colors, playful fonts, and unique illustrations on each flacon. The bottles are housed in boxes designed to resemble books—a detail I, as a book lover, deeply appreciated. This book-like presentation is no coincidence; each perfume comes with a short story written to accompany it.

With all of this, I was convinced I needed to learn more about the brand. Buse Köseoğlu kindly agreed to share the story of Mes Bisous with PlezuroMag.

When did you discover your passion for perfumes?

My passion for perfumes was sparked at a very young age. When I was 8, I traveled to Egypt with my family and visited an essential oil workshop. The mystique and depth of the scents left a lasting impression on me. I was so captivated that I asked my parents to buy me some essential oils, and from there, I began making my own mixtures. I was fascinated by the process of creating new scents, experimenting with combinations, and realizing how fragrance could evoke emotions. That early experience set the foundation for my lifelong love of perfumery.

How did you decide to create a perfume brand?

I initially started my career as a lawyer and practiced law for six months. However, I wasn’t happy while practicing law—it didn’t ignite my passion the way perfumery always had. I strongly believe that when you pursue what you’re truly passionate about, success is inevitable. With that in mind, I decided to follow my heart and create Mes Bisous, merging my love for storytelling and the art of creating fragrances. It was a leap of faith, but one that felt completely right.

Your brand is relatively young, founded in 2022. How do you introduce it to perfume lovers and what message it sends?

Although Mes Bisous is still a young brand, it has quickly gained a loyal following by offering something unique—fragrances with a story. We introduce our perfumes as an invitation to explore emotions, fantasies, and dreams. Each fragrance is packaged like a book, symbolizing that it tells a story and invites the wearer to become part of that narrative. The message we send is that fragrance can be both an artistic expression and a deeply personal experience, one that can transport you to another world.

Can you describe the emotional experience you want people to have when they wear a Mes Bisous fragrance?

When people wear Mes Bisous, I want them to feel as though they’re entering a new chapter of their personal story. Our scents are designed to be more than just fragrances—they evoke emotions, create moments of introspection, or even a sense of adventure. Whether it’s seduction, mystery, joy, or nostalgia, every scent invites the wearer to experience a range of emotions and connect with themselves in a meaningful way.

The perfume market is huge now. What sets Mes Bisous apart from other luxury perfume houses, how do you manage to stand out?

What sets Mes Bisous apart is our commitment to storytelling and craftsmanship. Each perfume is like a literary work, with its own narrative, character, and world. Our packaging, which resembles a book, reflects this. We also take great pride in the quality of our ingredients and the meticulous attention to detail in both scent creation and visual presentation. Additionally, the interactive experience we provide—where customers can repurpose our perfume boxes as coffee table accessories or jewelry holders—helps create a lasting connection between our brand and its consumers.

Do Mes Bisous’ Turkish roots influence the brand’s identity and creative direction? Are there any specific Turkish ingredients or traditions that inspire your fragrance compositions?

Actually, I wouldn’t say that Mes Bisous is directly inspired by Turkish culture alone. My vision for the brand is more international, drawing from many different cultures and experiences. However, on a personal level, my life and background are, of course, influenced by Turkish culture. It’s a part of who I am, so it naturally affects the way I approach my work. While certain ingredients like Turkish rose might appear in some of our fragrances, Mes Bisous is really about blending global influences to create something unique and universal.

Your bottles are also very unique. Can you tell a little about the idea of the illustrations, who creates them? What role does visual storytelling play in the overall fragrance experience?

Visual storytelling is essential to the Mes Bisous experience. The illustrations on our bottles are like the cover art of a novel—they hint at the story inside. Each design is carefully curated to reflect the emotions and character of the fragrance. We work with talented artists to bring these illustrations to life, ensuring that each perfume tells its story both through scent and visual design. It’s all about creating a complete sensory journey, where the bottle and packaging become part of the experience.

Passion Island was inspired by the dream of a secluded tropical island—a place where everything is gold, from the sands to the sea. It’s a fantasy island where all your dreams and fantasies can come true. The idea was to create a scent that makes people feel happy and believe that anything they wish for is possible. The creation process was a lot of fun. While working with our talented perfumer, Ozge Erdogmus Altinel, we attended a cocktail workshop where a bartender crafted tropical cocktails for us. The juicy, vibrant scents of the cocktails inspired the fragrance, which has a warm, exotic, vacation-in-a-bottle vibe. It’s designed to transport you to a dreamy paradise, making it feel like you’re on a sunny island getaway

What can we expect next from Mes Bisous? Any upcoming launches or projects?

We’re always working on new concepts and fragrances. Right now, I’m excited about an upcoming launch that will feature a neo-oriental gourmand scent, which blends tradition with a modern twist. We are planning to launch it on the fall season. We’re also planning to expand our presence internationally, with new retail locations in several countries.

What’s your ultimate dream for Mes Bisous?

My ultimate dream is for Mes Bisous to become a globally recognized brand, known not only for its beautiful fragrances but also for the stories each scent tells. I want to expand internationally while preserving the niche aspect of the brand, ensuring that we maintain the personal, handmade quality that defines Mes Bisous. I envision Mes Bisous as a brand that inspires people, becoming part of their most cherished memories, and offering them an artistic and emotional experience. Ultimately, I hope Mes Bisous will transcend trends and become a luxury lifestyle brand with immersive, story-driven experiences in stores worldwide.

Thank you for your time.
