Discovering “Les Essences de Diptyque”

Written by Angel Hoque, IG: @aroundtheunknown

Diptyque truly embodies the idea that perfume is an art form, transforming each fragrance into an imaginative journey. The way they explore olfactory landscapes, seeking out rare materials and innovative accords, allows wearers to embark on unique sensory adventures. It’s a celebration of creativity and craftsmanship, inviting us to discover new dimensions of scent. Each bottle becomes not just a fragrance, but a pathway to experiencing the world in a different light.

The new “Les Essences de Diptyque” beautifully captures the essence of nature through its unique fragrances and artistic interpretations. Each scent evokes a distinct element—coral, pearl, bark, water lily, and desert rose—transforming natural beauty into an olfactory experience.

This quintet of masterpieces invites you to immerse yourself in a world where art and fragrance intertwine, celebrating the delicate intricacies of the natural world. Each essence tells a story, inviting you to explore its captivating allure.

Let’s talk about the collection, my favorites, and my overall view.

Lunamaris

The interplay of shimmering pink pepper and prismatic incense creates a captivating opening, while the woody, powdery floral heart adds a refined elegance. Alpha-isomethyl ionone lends that soft, powdery quality, enhancing the feminine allure reminiscent of both L'Iris by Santa Maria Novella and Dans Paris by Celine.

This is a perfect choice for someone looking for something polished and sophisticated, with quite a nice projection and performance.

Bois Corse

The combination of woods, tonka, and coffee creates a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The way the coffee adds a subtle, dusty bitterness alongside the nutty texture of tonka bean is lovely, especially for those who prefer a gourmand scent without overwhelming sweetness.

While it may not have captured my heart completely, it seems like a wonderful option for those seeking warmth and comfort in their fragrance. Its balanced profile likely makes it a versatile choice for everyday wear, appealing to those who appreciate a more nuanced approach to gourmand scents.

Rose Roche

A chypre beautifully showcases the rose without overshadowing its natural luminosity. The seamless integration of spices and earthy elements creates a captivating depth, enhancing the floral character rather than masking it.

A well-structured rose fragrance holds a special place in my heart, and this one seems to deliver that intricate balance I love. It’s always exciting to encounter a scent that can both honor the classic rose and bring something fresh to the table!

Lilyphea

Lilyphea has a fascinating concept, drawing inspiration from the beauty of the aquatic plant. The imagery of it floating on glittering waters is lovely, but it’s a shame that the fragrance didn’t resonate with you. Sometimes, even the most beautifully conceived ideas can fall flat in execution, especially if the scent doesn’t develop well on the skin.

Corail Oscuro

Corail Oscuro has a unique concept, paying homage to the beauty of coral with its intriguing notes. The combination of mandarin, rose bourbon absolute, and a warm, salty mineral accord sounds captivating, but it’s unfortunate that it didn’t translate well on my skin. The sour development can definitely be off-putting, especially when I was expecting a more harmonious scent.

Overall, I found the collection quite compelling, and for those who appreciate the artistry and craftsmanship behind the brand and don’t mind spending quite a penny on the collection, I would recommend Lunamaris, Bois Corse, and Rose Roche from the lineup.
