Meet the New Fragrance From Jacques Fath Parfums: Encens Copal

Press release

Jacques Fath Parfums, a Panouge Group brand founded in 1946, has introduced the latest addition to the Fath's Essentials Collection: Encens Copal. A modern interpretation of incense in a perfume, the fragrance emanates a fresh yet warm scent.

Encens Copal is the third collaboration between Jacques Fath Parfums and IFF master perfumer Jean-Christophe Hérault, following his previous creations Vetiver Gris and Jasmin de Toscane. The fragrance is an homage to Jacques Fath's vibrant personality and his "Joie de Vivre."

Inspired during a stay in Mexico, Creative Director Rania Naim discovered Copal Blanc Incense, a sacred incense used by the Mayans and Aztecs in spiritual rituals. Known for its rich, resinous aroma, White Copal adds a deep, mystical quality to the fragrance, forming the base of Encens Copal. This sacred element is complemented by Mastic, evoking the festive spirit of Greek celebrations where mastika liqueur is enjoyed along the Mediterranean coast. Together, these ingredients create a captivating blend that embodies the essence of its origins and inspirations.

The fragrance opens with zesty, bright notes of Bergamot and Mandarin Essence, harmonized with the richness of Hazelnut, a signature ingredient in Jean-Christophe's creations for the brand. The heart is marked by a green accord of Mastic Tree and Iris Concrete, creating a fresh, modern interpretation of incense. The base reveals the fragrance's full depth with Incense Essence, Labdanum, and Resinoid Benzoin, creating a powerful and rich trail.

"I combined the essence and Resinoid of Incense with Hazelnut to make it even more mesmerizing, shaping the signature of the creation," said Hérault. "I then enveloped it in a contrasting veil of Mastic and Benzoin, faceting the fragrance with green and warm notes."
